
Her novel, The Present, is moderately short at just over 300 pages. These books were massive hits with her many fans, with some readers claiming them as favorites, especially Gentle Rogue. Over 22 years and under two different publishers, Johanna Lindsey wrote 12 romances about the Malory & Anderson clans.


Lindsey's books span the various eras of history, including books set in the Middle Ages, Regency England, the American "Old West", and the Viking era. The book was a success, as have been the 40 plus novels which followed.īy 2006, over 58 Million copies of her books have been sold worldwide, with translations appearing in 12 languages. Lindsey wrote her first book, Captive Bride in 1977 "on a whim". After her husband's death, Lindsey moved to Maine and has not remarried. The marriage continued, the couple residing in Hawaii and producing three children Alfred, Joseph and Garret, who already have made her a grandmother.


In 1970, when she was still in school, she married Ralph Lindsey, becoming a young housewife. Her father always dreamed of retiring to Hawaii and after he died in 1964, Lindsey and her mother settled there to honor him. The family moved about a great deal when she was young.
